“Sustainable Technology for Future Earth”

The Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Agrotechnology of UCYP has indeed been entrusted again by hosting the 3rd International Conference on Innovative Technology & Science 2022, with the theme “Sustainable Technology for Future Earth,” on December 6-7, 2022. This accomplishment is the outcome of a collaborative effort by Muhammadiyah University, Yoyakarta Indonesia, and University College TATI. This international conference, organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT), drew 200 participants and successfully brought together academic experts and researchers from several Asean countries, including Indonesia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Malaysia.

In her opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr Tan Li Pin, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Industry Linkages), explained that sustainability is an important issue, and suggested that a holistic approach along with technological development can be a solution to global challenges like environmental issues. Moreover, technological advancements such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence (AI), robots, electric cars, and many other innovations can become alternatives and contributors to sustainability. Dr. Md Fauzi bin Md Ismail, Registrar of the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT), also spoke at the conference, and he believes that the sustainable technology created should meet the community’s needs, particularly those related to food and energy security, environmental safety, social concerns, and so on. Continuous efforts on technical product development are also essential to refine the value and function of sustainability in resolving environmental and ecological concerns.

A total of 58 participants presented their research findings, discoveries, and best solutions in the advancement of science and technology. The research areas included engineering, computer science, and other disciplines that may redirect technology advancement towards future sustainability. The 3rd International Conference on Innovative Technology & Science 2022 (ICITS’22) established gold and platinum prizes for the best presentations to recognize the researchers’ attainments. As a result, ten presenters received the Gold Award, while Ts Dr Jacqueline Joseph from Universiti Teknologi MARA (Sabah), Dr Tan Chiw Wee from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Kuala Lumpur, and Ts. Sr. Dr. Nadzirah Zainordin from UCSI University received the Platinum Award for their outstanding presentations.
