Operational Excellence (OE) was selected as the key initiative for 2021 to further strengthen UCYP’s capabilities. Through Zoom platform, a webinar entitled ‘Operational Excellence: Values and Practices for Organizational Sustainability’ was presented by the Honorary Fellow of Tun Ghazali Shafie Institute for Strategic Leadership, Dato’ Abdul Rashid Musa. The webinar was screened live and viewed by over 100 UCYP staff.
UCYP Vice Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr Ahmad bin Hj Zainuddin, in his speech, stressed that the IR4.0 era requires all parties to step forward, reform, and face every challenges to remain relevant.
“Change is something that cannot be avoided and ignored, and being adaptive is one of the initiatives to remain relevant”, he added.
In his speech, Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad bin Hj. Zainuddin also stated that the objective of introducing UCYP Operational Excellence is to develop an organization that is capable to sustain in this ever-changing environment. So, this initiative can assist the organization to better understand the current and future needs. In addition to that, Operational Excellence can formulate and generate stronger results so that the organization remains sustainable.
The invitation to Dato’ Abdul Rashid Musa as a speaker meets th6e concept of OE as what desired and plan to be implemented by UCYP. With the joint experience of several leading corporate companies in Malaysia, Dato’ Abdul Rashid is generous in sharing his knowledge and experiences, when enforcing operational excellence during his leadership in several conglomerate companies.
During the one (1) hour session, he shared his knowledge when working in Japan, and the experience became more precious when he encountered the principles to the more effective and systematic operating environment. The principles and work ethics such as Muda (waste), Mura (uneven), and Muri (waste) have successfully helped in increasing productivity and utilizing available resources to an optimal level.
Thus, the knowledge and experiences poured into this session can be set as a benchmark for UCYP to drive its growth towards the Operational Excellence 2021.
