UCYP, 18 MARCH –Student Representative Council (SRC) 2021/2022 session Appointment and Pledge Ceremony was briefly conducted at UCYP Main Campus, Tanjung Lumpur, attended by the UCYP Vice Chancellor, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad bin Haji Zainuddin and Top Management.

According to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students Development and Society Engagement), Associate Professor Dr. Azhar Jaafar @ Ramli, UCYP, 2021 is the second year of SRC’s online election.

“A total of 20 candidates competed to seize seven (7) EXCO seats and 29 candidates for thirteen (13) representative seats for each of faculty,” he said.

At the same time, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin, in his speech mentioned that it is hoped that the elected EXCOs and representatives are able to utilize the SRC platform to develop their skills in leadership, become calibre leaders and contribute back to the community.

“In 10 year time, UCYP aims to be visualized as one of the best universities in the world. Therefore, the preparation must start now – students should develop their critical and analytical thinking and strive to acquire skills and knowledge beyond needed in order to compete in the future job market.

“Students must be active in local and abroad community to showcase their credibility as students and leaders, keep the reading habit and perform high-impact programme to the community and nation,” he said.

In addition to that, article writing is one of the initiatives to foster reading habit among the students. Thus, the SRCs have written 23 articles meant for the coming publication.

At the end of the programme, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin witnessed the UCYP SRC 2021/2022 Appointment Session. The pledge utterance also took placed and was led by the SRC President 2021/2022 session, Mahendran A/L Shilowaras.
