In line with the University College of Yayasan Pahang’s (UCYP) mission to be recognized as a leading educational institution locally and globally, various initiatives and strategic partnerships have been undertaken. These include establishing bilateral relationships with prestigious higher education institutions and agencies in countries such as Indonesia, China, New Zealand, Jordan, Thailand, Bangladesh and others. On 4 July 2023, the UCYP delegation, led by Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin, Vice-Chancellor of UCYP, visited the Education Malaysia Beijing (EMB) Office, Embassy of Malaysia, Beijing, China to explore future collaborative initiatives in academia.

During this visit, numerous areas of collaboration were identified to position UCYP as an educational hub for Chinese students seeking to pursue their studies in Malaysia. This approach aligns with the initiatives of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, aiming to develop students’ potential through international exchange and mobility programs. UCYP has already welcomed over 80 students from China, who have pursued various graduate and postgraduate programs at UCYP.
Furthermore, UCYP expressed its intention to host the Malaysia-China Higher Education Summit (MCHES) 2023, This conference aims to strengthen UCYP’s bilateral relations with the Education Malaysia Beijing Officeand foster increased collaboration opportunities between educational institutions worldwide, particularly in the areas of research and innovation.
Discussions during the visit also encompassed opportunities for research grants and the most effective strategies for promoting UCYP’s programs to China’s students. Through this strategic collaboration, UCYP hopes to engage more higher education institutions in China and encourage their participation in the conference series organized by UCYP Malaysia. May the initiatives contribute towards the positive growth of both local and international educational sectors.
