UCYP Library Receives RM50,000 in Waqf Contributions: Elevating Pahang Waqf’s Role in Education and Community Development.

The Pahang Wakaf organisation continues to play a pivotal role in gathering, managing, and distributing waqf contributions from individuals and corporate entities, with a primary focus on advancing community welfare. Through the collection and management of waqf contributions, the agency takes on the responsibility of determining priority allocations for the implementation of beneficial social projects such as education, healthcare, and community development. Additionally, the agency actively raises awareness about the value and benefits of waqf practices within the community and ensures transparent and accountable reporting regarding the utilization of collected contributions.

The ongoing efforts and initiatives of the Pahang Wakaf Agency have yielded significant benefits, particularly for educational institutions like UCYP. An amount of RM50,000 was allocated to the UCYP Library in January 2023 to enrich its collection with comprehensive reference materials and research resources for students. This contribution not only focuses on acquiring the latest and most relevant reading materials but also aims to enhance library facilities for improved comfort and learning quality. UCYP takes immense pride in the collaborative efforts of the International Institute of Islamic Civilization (IIIC) and the support from the Office of the Chief Digital Officer in securing this contribution for the shared benefit.

In recognition of these contributions, UCYP organized an appreciation ceremony for the Pahang Wakaf organisation on August 9, 2023, at the UCYP Main Campus Library. The event was officiated by Yang Hormat Dato’ Haji Halidan bin Md Daud, Senior General Manager of the Pahang Zakat and Wakaf Collection Center. In his address, he highlighted that awareness within the community about waqf practices remains relatively low, and thus various initiatives have been devised to diversify the methods and platforms for community waqf engagement. He also emphasized areas of collaboration agreed upon with UCYP, including the formation of waqf volunteers among UCYP faculty and students to promote the importance of waqf. Furthermore, collaboration to enhance UCYP library facilities and the publication of high-quality research findings to seek effective solutions for community waqf practices were also highlighted in the institutional cooperation agreement.

Additionally, Pahang Wakaf has launched the UCYP Library waqf donation portal to encourage public participation in advancing the education sector. Their targeted donation of RM 100,000 reflects their commitment to fostering synergy between universities and the community.

UCYP views its partnership with Pahang Wakaf as an essential initial step in building a lasting relationship. This collaboration not only strengthens education and human development but also provides UCYP students with access to a wealth of knowledge. Through this initiative, UCYP aims to foster creative thinking, support holistic intellectual growth, and make a positive impact on the community as a whole.
