In today’s fast-evolving digital age, staying informed and tech-savvy is no longer optional, it’s essential. Recognizing this need, UCYP University, in collaboration with the State Government of Pahang and the Women’s Development Unit, recently hosted the Suritekno: Digital Literacy for Housewives program. This event, held at the Bera Rest House, was attended by 33 enthusiastic participants eager to enhance their digital knowledge and skills.

The Suritekno program, which aims to empower housewives with practical technology skills, has previously been held in Temerloh and Cameron Highlands, before making its way to Bera. This latest edition recorded 33 participants who were keen to explore new opportunities in the digital era. Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sabariah binti Saidan, Pahang’s EXCO for Social Welfare, Women, and Family Development, emphasized the program’s significance. She highlighted how it equips housewives to not only manage daily digital tasks but also safeguard themselves from online fraud, contribute to their family’s economy, and bridge generational gaps. “This initiative reflects a proactive step toward fostering housewives as leaders within their families and communities,” she said. The EXCO expressed gratitude for the commitment of UCYP University in continuously supporting state programs such as Suritekno and WANLeads, which are dedicated to uplifting the women of Pahang.

The program featured engaging sessions led by UCYP University experts, including Ts. Suriyani binti Sulaiman, UCYP’s Chief Digital Officer, and Mahendran A/L Shilowaras, Assistant Manager. Their sessions provided participants with valuable insights into digital marketing and online business skills, teaching them to explore new entrepreneurial opportunities. Participants also learned about cybercrime awareness and prevention, gaining knowledge on how to stay safe in the digital space. Practical technology applications were also introduced, offering tools and tips for improving daily life through technology. These hands-on workshops inspired participants to see technology as a bridge to new possibilities, from boosting their family’s income to creating a more connected community.

The Bera edition of Suritekno marks another step in UCYP University’s commitment to creating a Society 5.0, where technology fosters harmony and social well-being. The program’s success paves the way for similar initiatives in other districts, ensuring more housewives can benefit from this digital transformation.
