In a continuous effort to support accessible and quality education, the “Back to School” School Aid Distribution Ceremony was successfully held at UCYP University on February 9, 2025. This meaningful initiative was made possible through the collaboration between Sime Darby Foundation, the Association for People’s Development and Empowerment (PEMEKAR), and UCYP University, aimed at assisting students in need as they prepare for the new school year.

A total of 76 students from diverse backgrounds received essential school supplies, including shopping vouchers, school bags, and basic learning materials. This assistance not only helped ease the financial burden of families but also served as a motivation booster for students as they begin a new academic journey.

The contribution handover was officiated by Dato’ Sri Hajah Shahaniza binti Shamsuddin, Chairman of the Board of Directors at KYP Education Sdn. Bhd. The ceremony was also graced by Professor Emeritus Dato’ Sri Dr. Daing Nasir bin Daing Ibrahim, Chairman of PEMEKAR, Puan Norsazlina binti Che Ghazali, General Manager of KYP Education Sdn. Bhd., and Encik Hafizzudin bin Mohd Arif, Project Leader at Sime Darby Foundation. Their presence highlighted the collective commitment of various organizations in ensuring equal access to education for all.

In her opening remarks, Dato’ Sri Hajah Shahaniza emphasized the importance of collaboration between the corporate sector, NGOs, and educational institutions in providing equal educational opportunities. “We want every student, regardless of their financial background, to have the opportunity to excel academically. Education is the key to both individual and societal progress,” she stated.

The “Back to School” program is part of Sime Darby Foundation corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which consistently provide support for educational development across the country. Encik Hafizzudin bin Mohd Arif reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to empowering communities through education and social development programs.

This initiative is expected to ignite students’ passion for learning and strengthen the support network for inclusive and high-quality education. The success of the program reflects the collective effort of various stakeholders in prioritizing education, aligning with the nation’s aspiration to cultivate a knowledgeable and competitive generation.

With initiatives like this, it is hoped that more organizations will step forward to contribute towards the betterment of education, paving the way for a brighter future for the next generation.
