UCYP University proudly hosted its first-ever Railway Transportation Teacher Training Programme from 17 to 19 February 2025. Organised in collaboration with Liuzhou Railway Vocational Technical College (LRVTC), China, this three-day programme was a major step forward in building railway expertise within the university.
A total of 36 participants, including UCYP lecturers and operations staff, took part in the training. The sessions covered key areas such as railway signaling systems, locomotive operations, and train dispatch management. These topics are essential in preparing a skilled team that will eventually support the establishment of the Akademi Rel Pahang (ARP) at UCYP University.
This initiative is also part of the broader China-Malaysia Modern Craftsmanship of Railway Institution 2025, which aims to foster cooperation between the two countries in developing vocational and technical education, especially in the railway sector.
As an added highlight of the programme, a seminar titled “An Overview of Railway Passenger Transport Development in China” was conducted by LRVTC, exclusively for UCYP students. This session provided insights into the rapid development of China’s railway industry, helping students understand modern trends in global transportation systems.
UCYP University also had the honour of welcoming Mrs. Chen Yusong, Deputy Director of LRVTC, whose presence demonstrated a strong commitment to international collaboration in education and training.
The group of lecturers and operations staff who completed this programme will play a vital role as the core trainers of the Pahang Railway Academy, ensuring that future trainees receive education that meets high international standards. Their involvement will help UCYP shaped a generation of professionals well-versed in railway operations and safety. This training reflects UCYP University’s ongoing efforts to deliver industry-relevant knowledge and to enhance the skills of its workforce.
