More Than a Meal: UCYP University Unites Communities Through “Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk”
24 March 2025, Monday
UCYP University strengthened its commitment to community well-being and social responsibility through the successful implementation of the “Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk” Programme, a community-based initiative that brought together students, university staff, government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the private sector, and the local community. The programme reflects UCYP University’s dedication to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
Held on 24 March 2025 at Masjid Sultan Ahmad Shah 1, Kuantan, Pahang, the programme involved 40 participants who collaborated to cook and distribute the meal to the local community. This hands-on engagement nurtured empathy, social responsibility, and a sense of togetherness among students and volunteers.
The programme also exemplified SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening strategic collaboration across universities, government, NGOs, and the private sector. By sharing resources, expertise, and manpower, stakeholders ensured the initiative’s smooth execution and maximised its positive impact.
Through this programme, UCYP University not only enhanced community well-being but also provided students with meaningful volunteer experience, promoting mental, emotional, and social development. Looking ahead, the initiative is set to become an annual event, with future enhancements including mental well-being reflection sessions and expanded partnerships to further amplify impact.
“Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk” demonstrates UCYP University’s commitment to nurturing compassionate graduates, fostering social cohesion, and driving sustainable community development.
