UCYP Promotes Mental Well-Being through Relaxation Therapy
5 October 2025, Sunday
In conjunction with the National Counselling Month and World Mental Health Day Celebration at UCYP University 2025, UCYP University successfully organised the Mindfulness Mind: Relaxation Therapy Programme, an initiative dedicated to enhancing mental and emotional well-being among students.
The programme was held on 5 October 2025 at Pantai Cempaka, Kuantan, and involved 50 participants comprising students from the Centre for the Development of Indigenous Community Civilisation (PETAMA) and members of the Peer Educators and Supporters (PEERS) Club, UCYP University. This initiative reflects UCYP University’s ongoing commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that prioritises student mental health.
Designed as a mindfulness- and nature-based relaxation therapy programme, the initiative aimed to help participants achieve emotional stability, self-awareness, and holistic well-being amid academic demands and daily life challenges. By integrating mindfulness practices with the calming natural surroundings of the beach, participants were provided with a safe and conducive space to practise relaxation, reflection, and emotional regulation.

The programme directly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by promoting proactive and continuous mental
health care through psychosocial support and healthy coping strategies. Participants engaged in guided breathing exercises, meditation, self-reflection, and group-based activities that encouraged stress management, emotional resilience, and balanced living.
In addition, the programme strengthened SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through close collaboration between the university counselling unit, PETAMA, and the PEERS Club. This partnership-based approach enabled effective sharing of expertise, peer support, and resources, contributing to a more integrated mental health support ecosystem within the campus community.
The programme outcomes included increased awareness and adoption of relaxation techniques in daily life, stronger psychosocial support among PETAMA students and PEERS members, and reinforced peer-led mental health advocacy on campus. These outcomes contribute to long-term student well-being and a healthier campus culture.
Overall, the Mindfulness Mind: Relaxation Therapy Programme highlights UCYP University’s dedication to advancing sustainable mental health initiatives that are holistic, inclusive, and impactful. By aligning institutional efforts with global sustainability agendas, UCYP University continues to demonstrate its role as a caring, progressive, and socially responsible institution, committed to nurturing resilient students and promoting sustainable development through meaningful action.
