Raising Awareness on HIV, LGBT & Student Well-Being at UCYP University

UCYP University successfully implemented the “CaknaIPT: HIV, LGBT & Student Awareness” programme, aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of public health issues, high-risk behaviours, and psychosocial well-being. The initiative aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by promoting health education, disease prevention, and mental and social wellness, while supporting SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through strategic collaboration with MUIP, LPPKN, Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri, and other key partners.
Held on 22 November 2025 at the Auditorium Hall, UCYP University Main Campus, the programme engaged 200 participants from UCYP, Kolej Yayasan Pahang (KYP), Akademi SMART Tahfiz, DRB-Hicom University of Automotive, UNITAR Kuantan, PETAMA, and UNIPSAS. The session featured expert-led talks on HIV awareness by health officers from Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Pahang and interactive workshops on LGBT awareness and group activities conducted by LPPKN officers, fostering a safe and informative learning environment.

The programme increased student knowledge and awareness on HIV, sexual health, and risk behaviours, while highlighting the importance of mental and social well-being in handling sensitive health topics. By combining education with collaboration across multiple agencies, the initiative strengthened social responsibility, community engagement, and strategic partnerships, providing a model for inclusive health education.
Moving forward, UCYP University plans to institutionalise CaknaIPT as a recurring initiative, integrating interactive learning elements such as quizzes, scenario simulations, and group discussions to further deepen understanding and sustain health awareness among students.
