Global Partnerships Take Centre Stage as UCYP University Participates in APAIE 2026

UCYP University strengthened its international engagement and global academic presence through active participation in the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) 2026 Conference and Exhibition, held from 23 to 27 February 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Representing UCYP University were Professor Dato’ Dr. Muhammad Fauzi bin Mohd Zain, Vice-Chancellor, and Associate Professor Dr. Tan Li Pin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), who joined higher education leaders, institutional partners and international experts from across the Asia-Pacific and beyond. Held under the theme “Asia-Pacific Partnerships for the Global Good,” APAIE 2026 served as a major platform for strategic dialogue, knowledge exchange and international collaboration within the global higher education landscape.

Throughout the five-day conference, UCYP University actively engaged in networking sessions and partnership discussions with several international institutions, including O.P. Jindal Global University (India), the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (Vietnam), Haliç University (Turkey), and the Baden-Württemberg Universities (Germany). A key highlight of the engagement was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) between UCYP University and O.P. Jindal Global University, marking a positive step towards formalising future academic collaboration between both institutions.

The conference also provided valuable opportunities for institutional learning and leadership engagement, including participation in the Presidents’ Programme, a strategic session dedicated to senior university leaders to discuss emerging priorities and the future direction of global higher education. As the conference progressed, the UCYP delegation continued to strengthen professional connections through meaningful exchanges with academic peers and potential collaborators from around the world. A significant moment during the closing ceremony was the announcement of Malaysia as the host country for APAIE 2027, reflecting the country’s growing prominence in the international higher education arena.

UCYP University’s participation at APAIE 2026 reflects its continued commitment to expanding international partnerships, strengthening academic collaboration and creating greater global opportunities for its students, researchers and academic community. Through sustained engagement on international platforms, the university continues to position itself as an active contributor to the evolving global higher education ecosystem.
