In an inspiring show of teamwork and environmental responsibility, 44 students from UCYP University’s Business Communication course participated in a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program called #AmalforGandah, held from 19 to 20 February 2025. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with 20 staff from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Pahang, led by Senior Manager of Business Support Office Services, East Zone, Ms. Norfadilah binti Rasli.
This unique program took place at the National Elephant Conservation Centre in Kuala Gandah, Lanchang, Pahang. The centre, known as Malaysia’s largest sanctuary for elephants, became the site of two days of active volunteer work, conservation efforts, and student development activities.
This marked the first collaboration between UCYP University and TNB in a CSR activity. TNB generously sponsored a large portion of the student program expenses, further highlighting their commitment to community-based education and sustainability initiatives.
According to Ms. Norfadilah, TNB’s involvement was not only to provide financial support but also to encourage and empower student-led programs that promote social responsibility. She expressed how excited TNB staff were to be directly involved, especially in a project completely managed by students and centered on protecting one of Pahang’s most iconic animals – the elephant.
The program was part of a project-based learning experience designed to assess students’ communication, writing, public relations, and teamwork skills. Despite the challenges, the students succeeded in organizing the event independently and impressively secured sponsorship from several companies, including YP Maintenance Sdn. Bhd. (YPM), YP Plantation Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (YPPH), Pengurusan Air Pahang Berhad (PAIP), Jaman Tory Group, and EJH Food Industries.
To raise additional funds, the students organized various campus-based activities such as two Car Wash Days, Henna services, Movie Time sessions, charity collection drives, and food sales. These activities not only contributed to the program’s success but also offered students hands-on experience in planning, fundraising, and public engagement.
For many students, #AmalforGandah was more than just a CSR program but it was a life-changing experience. The chance to interact closely with the gentle giants of Kuala Gandah and contribute to their welfare was both humbling and eye-opening. The partnership with TNB and support from other organizations also showed how collaboration can lead to impactful, meaningful change.
This initiative served as a great example of how learning goes beyond the classroom, shaping future professionals who are not only skilled but also socially conscious and responsible.

One team, one mission. UCYP and TNB unite for wildlife through #AmalforGandah.
