CARBON FREE I-SQUARE AS LOCATION FOR UCYP AND KYP IFTAR JAMA’IE

The presence of KESB Chief Executive, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bin Hj. Zainuddin to an iftar jama’ie for UCYP and KYP on 26 April 2022 enlightens the gathering. The program that was organized by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Development and Community Diplomacy) office was attended by approximately two hundred students accompanied by the UCYP and KYP management team and Centre for Student Engagement personnel. The gathering is another initiative from the university as a means to strengthen the relationship among the UCYP and KYP students and staff.

The organizer also seized the occasion to launch Carbon Free i-Square during the event. The Carbon Free i-Square is one of the initiatives by UCYP to support the environmental sustainability global agenda that leads to a conducive campus environment. The Carbon Free i-Square is operated via carbon free bulbs  as the source of light that helps to minimize the negative impact of carbon to the environment.

Through the Go Green concept, the students and guests were encouraged to bring their own cutlery, cups and plates to avoid unnecessary usage of  plastic and polystyrene that could be harmful to the environment. With the Go Green concept, the guests were also encouraged to wear green attire to show support. Such an initiative provides greater exposure to UCYP and KYP students and staff on the importance of environmental sustainability.

Apart from taking care of nature, Carbon Free i-Square is set as a platform to cultivate entrepreneurial skills among UCYP and KYP students because the site will be opened for yard sale so that students can generate income.
