Becoming a leader is not an easy task as it comes with trust and responsibility. However, developing leadership skills is crucial for a student’s self-identity and reputation. Once again, this year, the newly elected campus representatives have taken charge of the Student Representative Council (Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar) at UCYP. UCYP, therefore, wants to extend its highest congratulations and well wishes to the new leadership team for the 2023/2024 session. The UCYP’s Centre for Student Engagement recently organized the Appointment Inauguration and Oath-taking Ceremony for the incoming Student Representative Council members, held at the Main Auditorium on the main campus.
The Appointment Inauguration and Oath-taking Ceremony marks the beginning of the Student Representative Council’s responsibility in representing the students’ voice and enhancing students’ potential development. Following the campus elections, a total of 14 student representatives have been elected. Khairul Anuar bin Zaid, a UCYP student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Management and Halal Business, will lead the 2023/2024 session. Aligning with UCYP’s goal of maintaining high integrity, he emphasized in his speech the importance of integrity, urging all student representatives to refrain from any misuse of power. He also called for the cooperation and commitment of the entire student representative team to handle upcoming plans and issues professionally and with the utmost respect.
The Vice Chancellor of UCYP, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin, also stressed the key qualities of a leader in his address before presenting the inauguration to the Student Representative Council for the 2023/2024 session. Among these qualities, professionalism and responsibility were highlighted as essential. He emphasized the need to approach challenges in a professional manner, avoiding decisions driven solely by emotions. Accordingly, UCYP extends its warmest congratulations to all members of the Student Representative Council for the 2023/2024 session, wishing them a successful and outstanding leadership term.
