The collaboration between UCYP and China is strengthened by the enrollment of another 22 China students who have arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on 6th February 2022. Fifteen (15) male and seven (7) female students were first quarantined at KIP Hotel, Kuala Lumpur before being taken to Kuantan, Pahang. All these students will be pursuing their studies in Bachelor of Software Engineering and Business Management at UCYP.
Extra and careful precautions were taken with regards to safety and health as an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19. The students were frequently reminded of the importance of SOPs once they touched down in Malaysia. In accordance with what was required by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, the students underwent a seven-day quarantine starting 6 February until 12 February 2022. All of them were found negative and free from any COVID-19 symptom disease.
On 12 February 2022, the students arrived in Kuantan and were placed at D’Embassy Residence Suite. Once they have completed their medical check-up, further steps on the student enrollment documentation process were done. The students are now starting their routine as UCYP students and enjoying the new norms practiced in teaching and learning. To ensure the comfort and convenience of the China International students, four (4) mentors were selected to monitor and provide consultation to the students. They are Associate Prof. Dr. Tan Li Pin, Mr. Yung Leong Lam, Ms. Ng Loo Ee and Mr. Chin Kuo Ren.
According to Shen Zhaoshi, his friends and him are really satisfied with the facilities and assistance provided by UCYP. All aspects including home electrical appliances as well as health and recreational needs were taken care of. In addition, the online learning experiences were found interesting together with good communication and cooperation from the academic team. The challenging situation due to the pandemic condition will not stop them from reaching their dreams.
Finally, UCYP would like to express our appreciation to His Excellency, Malaysian Ambassador to China, Datuk Raja Nushirwan Zainal Abidin for the endless support. In addition, UCYP appreciation also goes to Mr. Ts. Aziz How Abdullah, the director of Education Malaysia-Beijing and his team. May the collaboration between China and UCYP create more opportunities in the educational sector and bring more benefits to both countries. As for the university, the enrollment of more China students is hoped to create more cultural and intelligence diversities.
