UCYP University proudly hosted Linguafest UCYP 2024, inaugurated by Associate Professor Dr. Norasiha binti Hamid, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). The event was organized by students from the BLB 1723 – English for Social Communication course, including second-semester students from the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BCE) and Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) programs. With an enthusiastic turnout and a variety of activities, Linguafest UCYP 2024 successfully attracted interest and participation from a diverse range of students.
The program aimed to highlight the importance of language as a tool for unity. It also sought to introduce English as an easy and fun language to use.
Linguafest UCYP 2024 featured a range of engaging activities that drew in 138 participants. Key activities included a Treasure Hunt and a Talent Show, which saw nine participants from within and outside UCYP showcasing their talents. The talent show included performances of songs in English, Malay, and Mandarin. Activities like Sand Art and colouring were designed for children to nurture their creativity. These activities also introduced language skills through interaction and games.
In her speech, Associate Professor Dr. Norasiha binti Hamid noted that Linguafest UCYP 2024 was an excellent platform to encourage students and the community to understand the significance of language in daily life. She praised the efforts of the BCE and BVA second-semester students for successfully organizing a high-impact and meaningful event.
Linguafest UCYP 2024 achieved its goal of emphasizing the importance of language as a unifying force and introducing English as a fun language to learn. Through the activities, participants saw how language can bring together people from diverse cultural backgrounds and serve as an effective medium of communication. The enthusiastic participation demonstrated that language is a powerful tool for uniting a multicultural community.
