Faculty of Science, Engineering and Agrotechnology UCYP, carved out their success by holding the 2nd International Conference on Innovative Technology & Science on 25 & 26 November 2021 with a theme Forging A Smart Technological World. This achievement symbolizes good cooperation between UCYP and Teuku Umar University (UTU), Indonesia together with Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI). Apart from that, this conference received a great support by 200 entrant with assistance from Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), Malaysia; Phetchaburi Rajabhat University, Thailand; International Society for Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences (ISSAAS), Indonesia; and Beijing Information Science & Technology University, China in bringing together these academics throughout this conference.
The program was conducted virtually for two days with involvement of all academic experts in science and technology from Indonesia, China, Malaysia and Thailand. The opening session began with welcoming remarks from UCYP Vice Chancellor, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bin Hj. Zainuddin. According to him, every second humans tend to innovate and create new creations. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Smart Technologies are those that attract most of the experts nowadays, and he wishes that these innovations would be discussed further in this conference. It also hoped that this conference would be beneficial to academicians, industry practitioners and others especially in the field of computer science, engineering as well as agrotechnology. At the end of the day, it is anticipated that such an outcome could support community development.
Tan Sri Dato’ Ir. Ts. Ahmad Zaidee Laidin, the former President of Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) and also the Honorary Fellow, Tun Ghazali Shafie Institute for Strategic Leadership (Engineering Technology Leadership), presented his keynote address entitled “Forging A Smart Technological World” via a video recording. According to him, we have witnessed the evolution of science and technology around the world since the Giza Pyramids and Babylon Hanging Gardens era. He personally believes that knowledge related to geometry, astronomy, civil engineering, physics, chemistry and biology was started 4,500 years ago with disparate evolutions and technologies. Malaysia was also facing the 4th Industrial Revolution through development of technology in smart devices, digital communications, cyber physical systems, robots and many more and these technological changes were adapted from the German binary system or dual system in educational technology.
Over 37 participants presented insightful and inventive findings on development of science and technology. Their studies cover various disciplines such as engineering, computer science, plantation and other related multi disciplines that are able to channel the development of smart technology to the world.
As to motivate the participants, the IC.ITS committee has introduced an interesting award giving which is the best presenter award for each discipline. Associate Professor Dr. Norasiha Hamid who is the Assistant Vice Chancellor (Foresight & Strategic Unit) of UCYP has been awarded as one of the best presenters for the Agro technology category. Likewise other educational institutions around the world, UCYP is heading towards expansion of new and latest inventions in science and technology.
It is hoped that the UCYP 2nd International Conference on Innovative Technology & Science marks another milestone in the science and technology world that leads towards future inventions and innovations.
