BUSINESS, MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2021 (BMAGIC) : LEADERSHIP IN TURBULENT TIMES

The first organization of Business, Management and Governance International Conference 2021 (BMAGiC), 29 – 30 November became a historic point for the Faculty of Management, UCYP. With the theme of Leadership in Turbulent Times, this conference was successfully held in collaboration with Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) Indonesia with 250 participants and has achieved their target on number of entrants. The theme became the main focal point of this conference, regarding the current situation that hit the world and became a major challenge in the corporate sector including management and governance fields. As for a skilled leader, the ability to organize, strategize and deal with pandemic conflicts challenge one’s ability.

The 2-day conference brought together 22 speakers from several countries with various research findings and mostly they are coming from Asian region and United Arab Emirates countries. The welcoming speech was delivered by YH. Professor Dato’ Dr Muhamad Muda, the member of KYP Education Sdn Bhd board of directors. He expressed appreciation to all the invited speakers, presenters as well as the participants who were willing to contribute and share their findings and thoughts that can be used to resolve and guide issues related to the current scenario. In the meantime, a great and meaningful opening presentation was started by the  Keynote Speaker, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman who is the Chairman of the Board of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), also as the Honorary Fellow, Tun Ghazali Shafie Strategic Institute for Leadership (TGS-ISL) UCYP. With more than 40 years of experience in the management of public and private companies extensively, he was a respected individual among corporate members and professionals. With the title, Leadership in a Disruptive Era, he viewed changes and challenges in the development of the 4th Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0), as not only through changes in economics, social, and politics but also through action and decision planning in organizations.

BMAGiC also invited three (3) guest speakers: Professor Dr. Dileep Kumar M., Pro Vice Chancellor, GNS University India, Associate Professor Dr. Ruzita Bt. Manshor, UCYP, Associate and Professor Dr. Abdul Wahab, FAST School of Management FAST-NUCES, Islamabad, Pakistan and Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri Rector, Universitas Bengkulu, Indonesia  for a sharing session with the participants.

As a recognition to the presenters and researchers of this conference, the committee has provided a special award for the Best Presentations that comprised Silver, Gold and Platinum Awards. UCYP also shared its joy with the success of Puan Suhaila Hj Mukhtar, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Branding & Corporate Communication) who won the Gold Award as one of the Best Presenters.

It is hoped that this conference will open up more opportunities for academicians, industry practitioners, students and participants to gather and share their expertise and expand networking across the region.
