Over the past five decades, Malaysia has achieved a series of impressive economic growth. However, in the year 2023, the country is expected to face significant economic challenges due to the global economic downturn. In an effort to confront these challenges, University College of Yayasan Pahang, through the Tun Ghazali Shafie Institute of Strategic Leadership, has taken the initiative to organize a sharing and dialogue session. The session focuses on the issue of inflation, with esteemed panelist Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Aman Bin Raja Haji Ahmad, the Honorary Fellow from Tun Ghazali Shafie Institute for Strategic Leadership. The program has received full support from the Honorable Dato’ Mohamad Nizar Bin Dato’ Sri Mohamad Najib, the Pahang State Executive Council Member for Investment, Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation.

During the session held on May 16, 2023, at the Main Hall, Yayasan Pahang Complex, Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Aman Bin Raja Haji Ahmad began the discussion by reflecting on the history of the global economy and the significance of inflation in economic development. Inflation is a phenomenon that needs to be faced and addressed by all countries, including Malaysia. He explained that inflation refers to the continuous increase in prices of goods and services over a prolonged period, influenced by factors such as economic growth, interest rates, production costs, and supply and demand dynamics. Controlled inflation is crucial for maintaining economic stability, while high inflation can have adverse effects on the economy and the population.

The sharing session was attended by 250 participants, including industry players and young individuals. Additionally, the program witnessed the exchange of a memorandum of understanding between the Office of the Chief Digital Officer of UCYP and Pahang Go Sdn. Bhd., aiming to strengthen digital technology through bilateral cooperation. The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of UCYP, Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin, and the Chief Executive Officer of Pahang Go Sdn. Bhd., Mr. Affandi Bin Mohd Isa, in the presence of the Honorable Dato’
Mohamad Nizar Bin Dato’ Sri Mohamad Najib, Pahang State Executive Council Member for Investment, Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation. This collaboration is expected to benefit not only UCYP students but also the wider community of Pahang.
