SURI-TEKNO: Towards Digitally Literate Housewives program was officially launched at Hotel Seri Malaysia, Temerloh, Pahang on May 4, 2024. Organized by the Pahang Women’s Policy and Action Plan Secretariat (2022-2026) in collaboration with UCYP University, the program aims to equip housewives with crucial digital technology skills and knowledge in today’s modern era.
The event was inaugurated by YB. Dato’ Sabariah binti Saidan, EXCO for Social Welfare, Women and Family Development of Pahang. Also in attendance were Prof. Dato’ Dr. Muhammad Fauzi bin Mohd Zain, Vice Chancellor of UCYP University, and representatives from the Pahang Women and Social Development Unit, who showed full support for this initiative.
The SURI-TEKNO program’s main goals are to improve digital technology literacy among women, particularly housewives, to develop skills in digital marketing and online business, to increase awareness and prevention of cybercrime, and to leverage technology for children’s education.
The program attracted 30 housewives from the Temerloh district of Pahang, representing various backgrounds. It included four sessions designed to provide comprehensive exposure to digital technology, led by Ts. Suriyani Sulaiman, Chief Digital Officer, with assistance from Mahendran A/L Shilowaras, Assistant Manager (Programmer) of UCYP University.
Overall, the SURI-TEKNO: Towards Digitally Literate Housewives program is anticipated to bring significant benefits to the participants and meet its objectives. Participants are encouraged to continue learning and adapting to the rapidly evolving digital landscape. It is hoped that this program will catalyze positive change among housewives in Pahang and across Malaysia.
