The UCYP and KYP Advanced Skills Indian Student Association hosted a Deepavali celebration at the Main Campus, UCYP Tanjung Lumpur last thursday.
The ceremony was attended by the official representative of YB. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Johari bin Haji Hussain, Chairman of Human Resources, Youth & Sports, Non-Government Organisations State of Pahang, Mr. Uganeswaran Cilamuthu and UCYP, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Haji Zainuddin along with 200 students, parents and UCYP staff.
This is the third (3) time the program has been held since 2016, and the celebration is a part of the UCYP, KYP and KYP Advanced Skills initiative to strengthen the relationship among students across diverse backgrounds and religions.
In addition to that, it is also the role of the Deputy Vice Chancellor’s (Student Development & Alumni) office agenda to encourage and inculcate a harmonious and respectful life despite the differences in religion, culture and customs.
The ceremony began with Urumi nelam, a musical instrument performance with malai garlands and honorary cloth gifting to the esteemed guests.
During the celebration, guests feasted on various traditional dishes whilst being entertained with traditional Indian dances performed by the UCYP students and guests.
Apart from that, the celebration is quite special as compared to the previous ones since it was also attended by delegations from several ASEAN universities, such as Universitas Bengkulu, Indonesia, Politeknik Negeri Malang, Indonesia, and Phetchaburi Rajabhat University, Thailand.
